These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ContextLens (the "Service"), a browser extension and related backend operated by Yusha Syed ("ContextLens", "we", "us"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required to consent to online services in your country) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
ContextLens lets you highlight text or capture a screenshot region on a webpage, receive an AI-generated explanation, and save explanations as history and flashcards. The Service is offered on an early-access / beta basis, is provided "as is," and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.
Explanations are generated by third-party AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, particularly for complex classical Arabic, poetry, grammar (naḥw/ṣarf), or religious and jurisprudential (fiqh) material. The Service is provided for personal study and general educational purposes only.
AI explanations are not a substitute for a qualified teacher or scholar and do not constitute religious rulings (fatāwā), legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. You should independently verify any explanation before relying on it. You are solely responsible for how you use the output.
Some features require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure, and you are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
You retain ownership of the text, screenshots, notes, and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service — including sending it to the AI and infrastructure subprocessors described in our Privacy Policy.
You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit Your Content and that doing so does not violate any law or the rights of any third party (including copyright and privacy rights of content you capture from webpages).
You agree not to:
ContextLens offers a free tier and paid plans (currently Plus and Pro) with higher usage limits. Paid plans are billed as recurring monthly subscriptions through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method the applicable fee each billing period until you cancel.
Plans include per-period usage limits (for example, a monthly number of explanations and Deep Dives). We may change prices, plans, or limits; we will give reasonable notice of material changes, which take effect on your next renewal. Taxes may apply.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your ContextLens dashboard or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by ContextLens and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service; no other rights are granted.
The Service interacts with third-party providers and with webpages you choose to use it on. We are not responsible for third-party content, websites, or services, or for the accuracy or legality of content you capture. Your use of third-party services is subject to their terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of AI output. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ContextLens and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ContextLens and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including content license grants for retained data, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts located in DeKalb County, Georgia will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law grants you rights to bring claims elsewhere.
